w/e
ive been in philly for the past 3 days, sorta. the first day was great, but the last 2...urgh. i hate doctors. i hate getting paranoid about crap. i hate being lost. i hate having to replace my thoughts with song lyrics to avoid breaking down... i hate being so completely terrified of breaking down. i hate avoiding living because i am afraid not to live... makes no sense, i know, which i guess is y i hate it so much. actually, im sure none of this makes sense. i just wanted 2 say it anyway.
All Star by Smashmouth
u all know this one, im pretty sure...
Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead
Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming
Back to the rule and I hit the ground running
Didn't make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the back streets
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine if you don't glow
Hey now you're an
All Star get your game on, go play
Hey now you're a
Rock Star get the show on get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
It's a cool place and they say it gets colder
You're bundled up now but wait 'til you get older
But the meteor men beg to differ
Judging by the hole in the satellite picture
The ice we skate is getting pretty thin
The waters getting warm so you might as well swim
My world's on fire how about yours
That's the way I like it and I never get bored
Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas
I need to get myself away from this place
I said yep what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all use a little change
Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming

Random rambling about my life
This week was awesomely fun and because I dont feel like writing my french essay now as i should I'm just gonna tell you about it instead. We had another dance, which I always love. Not that I would actually GO to a dance (well, I show up fo 2 minutes and then I run away), but dance-night always means total anarchy in the entire school, so that's fun. This dance was special though cause it was on "Fasching", where people dress up like on halloween (just that it isnt spooky-themed). Of course, i didnt know about any of this, so I had to improvise a costume. I wanted to go as man because I figured it wouldn't take much effort to draw a mustache, but apparently it takes more than facial hair to be a man. So when I realized that despite my beautiful mustache I just couldnt pull off enough manliness. So I ended up going as transvestite, seeing as the marker wouldnt go off my face.
Other than walking through 5 inch snow in high heels I also refounded the "English Literature Club" with a classmate who stayed in Arizona last year. Our aim ist to make version 1.1 of the club more of a way for people to better their english than an exclusive club for former exchange student like the last one was. We dealt with the Lady of Shalott on our first meeting and it went pretty awesomely.
Bummer: The oreos are gone and I dont feel like walking to the dvd rental place =(

Drs, Dentists, Hospitals, Oh My!
Is it just me, or has there seriously been a huge amount of people getting seriously sick lately? My friend's aunt dying, a boy in class blacking out, my uncle having a heart attack, my mom's boss having a stroke, a relative of a relative in the hospital, my cousin's brain cyst...it seems freakishly never- ending. I even think im forgetting some, which is sorta bad...Not to mention all the crap with my possible lupus and ehler's-danlos syndrome... not that im sure i trust that particular doctor's judgement. for so many reasons...
and, of course, the dental crap. i wonder if it's possible to become immune to novacaine, cuz it didnt seem to be working on me so well today. like, ya know how if u take drugs often enough u start to need more and more of them to get high? it would suck if im becoming tolerant of novacaine... i think that's the terminology they use, something about tolerance.
anyway, do any of u know people getting sick? is it some sort of epidemic, although everything seems completely unrelated? or is it just me noticing things like this? or is it one huge coincidence? (i do actually believe in those, ive decided.)
and a little side note- remember caroling at the hospital, and they talked to us about volunteering? i went for an interview today, im gonna start doing that, either on weekends or this summer. there's a lot of programs they do, there's even a pre-med thing the lady was telling me about... well, actually this part i meant to direct at madison, because of allied medical, and i dont think she reads this anymore. w/e, ill try to mention it to her sometime.

They have been sighted!!
At the local dvd-rental place!! IN GERMANY!!!
They have been bought!!
At a ridiculous high price!!
This is a historic event. Finally, German food importers have come to their senses, after oreos have already been lonng-established in the netherlands and the uk. Halleluja!

Ooh...
I FREAKING LOVE YOU GUYS!
I feel bad, because I havent been online for about a month. (ooer) And I just read all the old blog posts that I missed. Beth, root canal needles sound extremely painful. And smoking teeth (ewwww) sound so weirdly unpleasant. Oh, and I am always there if you need me. I am budda. Not that I'm a fat guy with large earlobes, but I mean that I...actually idk what I meant with that, lol. Anyway, I will kick ass, hug, or happy dance with any amoeba member whenever asked. (I loves me a good dance) Soph, I AM SO HAPPY YOU SAW TWILIGHT EVEN THOUGH ROBERT DIDNT HAVE ANY CHARACTER OTHER THAN THE STEREOTYPICAL "HEY IM A RANDOM HOT GUY THAT CAN JUMP OUT OF TREES AND EAT BEAR TOES" FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE MOVIE. Kaiti, I know exactly what you mean with the dvd seasons. I tried to watch doctor who on BBC America, and freaked at the fact that there were commercials, and that I had to wait till next week for the next episode.

I have decleared I want to ramble because I can and most won't read this anyway.
Everyone is going away this weekend and I am home. With nothing to do at all. Which I kind of a good thing seeing that I have been sick. Which in turns leads to my conclusion. Friday Night (tonight) I am going to hang around the house watching nonstop Charmed.
I have to admit I NEVER liked Charmed before my friend Katie tried to get me into it when it was still on the WB, which no longer exist. I am now really into it. I spent my whole summer every morning and afternoon watching Charmed and everyday after school I catch two episodes.
Now I have a problem some people may know about but I don't like watching Television series and waiting each week for an episode when I can buy it on DVD. This problem started when my father got Buffy The Vampire Slayer on DVD. My best friend of the time and I watched every episode and I was in awe that I didn't have to wait or have commercials. Then I started buying Gilmore Girls on DVD, which then lead to Doctor Who on DVD. And Gossip Girl and now Charmed. Seriously I have very expensive addictions. The most I have payed is 70 something on Doctor Who because I shop all over and find cheap cheap prices.

Britain is a small island indeed
Maybe i've mentioned at some point, that there are two "adult" exchange students living in my dorm. They are grad students who fro some reason are forced to spend a year abroad. there's a guy from france who is awesomely hippie-ish and a girl from the uk. Now, I was slightly prejudiced against her ever since she said that she thought "Doctor Who" was weird as if that was a bad thing, but yesterday she really astonished me.
I was having a little anglophile party for all the people who had been in the us/uk because I felt the need to spread all the nutritious awesome I got over the holidays and share oreos with people who could fully appreciate them. So while we were sitting ther, ranting on about america and great britain, someone pulled up the twilight movie on my roomie's laptop and we started the usual aw-ing about twilight and the uk-girl outed herself as huge fan AND revealed that....
now bear with me my friends. sit down. put any breakable object that might be near you away. take a deep breath -
she had nearly spent New Year's with Rob Pattinson.
!!!!!!
Apparently a good friend of hers is friend with him or related or something like that. and another friend of hers lives in his street in London. Now, come on. How small is that island if everybody seems to know everybody?? do you only have to take a walk in hyde park to run into hugh grant and jk? have I mentioned that I'm looking at british colleges now? I will keep you informed about my field studies on british and french culture.
Lots of love,
Soph
PS: did you know that if you type in blogpsot instead of blogspot you get to a page about bible studies? personally, i find that very concerning.
PPS: Yes, I do know Rob Pattinsons street now

Root Canal (though probably no one cares)
Myth: root canals are painful
Truth: 5 needles of novacaine, including 2 shot directly into the infected nerve being treated, are painful.
Truth: after during and after a root canal, you can feel absolutely NOTHING. which is a rather bizarre sensation after having a continual toothache for a year...
Truth: root canals are absolutely gross. The taste of numbing gel, anesthetics, blood, metal, and rubber, the smell of smoking teeth (didn't ask about that, didn't want to know), having to stare up at a paneled ceiling with leak stains on it...why to all paneled ceilings have leak stains on them, anyway? tooth chips flying up and landing all over your face... ugh.
Supposed Truth: root canals are very sore for a few days after the fact. But hey, that's what the codeine's for.
(note: u know how a tetanus shot is kinda sore for a few days afterwards? the novacaine shots have a similar affect...only times 5. i cannot eat solid food. soup and smoothies shall get old quickly...)

Because i just need to rant...
I don't know if anyone will even read this, it's true, the blog has become rather comatose. Sometimes i wish for the way it was last year...when i knew u were all there. now none of u are...and it's not like anyone else is, either, except maybe dylan and sometimes george. (not your fault, of course, its not like ive been there either... it's really all of our faults, to be honest) it's become a lot more rare for me to talk about things that matter to me. im worried thats because less things have been mattering to me. i dont feel particularly strongly for much of anything. i have trouble keeping track of people in school...not that i dont know who's who, just what's going on with everyone. i've become really introverted or something... and i just can't see where anything is going. wintry apathy, maybe. i miss you all, in my own way. and i know my short little rant here didn't do much for me, and probably has done nothing for anyone else, but o well. it's written, and i wont take it back. not this time.

Twilight
was awesome. I really, really liked it (to my own surprise). Although i still think that Rob Pattinson is somewhat dumb and only starts getting edwardy in the second half of the movie, and Carlisle is just a joke, I LOVE most all the side characters. Forks, the highschool, bella's house and family - it totally fit and it so so so much reminded me of cape may, which is probably hard to understand from the cape may perspective, but makes total sense from the Berlin perspective. thank god I found a theatre that played the original version, cause that way I watched it in a room filled with American teenagers, which is definitely a different experience than watching it with germans. we had the whole giggling and clapping thing going on, while in a german theatre it probably would have been just like watching any other movie. Gibson liked it too.
oh, and Joe, Madison: When you move to washington i am very intent on visiting you - it looks so gorgeous!

Since New Year's wasnt all that long ago...
I just want to say here that 2008 was probably the best year of my life. That's to a large part because of all you people. So Thanks.
Also, Gibson and I are seeing Twilight this weekend.

This Blog
Is dying and it's dying quick. It hasn't even been a year and everyone is hardly posting other then Sophie and I. I am going to keep posting on here though because I find it fun. I post on my personal blog more but I still post on here.
For Christmas I received Prince Caspian. as most of you know I have a obsession with The Chronicles of Narnia and C.S. Lewis. My mother bought the movie for me and I have been watching it like crazy. Unlike some kids I didn't read the books much when I was younger. I hardly read a lot when I was younger because I was off on adventure outside but I picked up the books when I was in Cape Christian and I became addicted. I would have really liked to see them make a movie for The Horse and His Boy but it would have been to complicated for them to do. Prince Caspain was not like the first one which seemed more like you were reading a book but it still was very close to being just a good. C.S. Lewis has been one of my favorite authors for a while, note I like him enough to write a five page paper on him, and seeing his story become movies is wonder I think.
Keeping up with this blog is not that hard really I don't care what gets posted. I just rambled on about a children's series that I love. I just don't want to see this blog die. I guess I post on here more because I don't see everyone as much as I use to where some of you see each other more often. Even if it just becomes me posting on here I am fine with that I guess. the Amoeba will not die.
